Climate and Environment

CNRI’s environmental work is community-owned — water conservation, watershed development, renewable energy and climate adaptation led by the people who live with the consequences. Member NGOs mobilise villages around water security and local renewables; CNRI aligns this with national water, climate and clean-energy missions; and globally engages the climate conversation, with WCOOPEF benchmarking against the COP process. The Bihar Dairy–CBG cooperative bio-energy work shows how CNRI turns a climate objective into a livelihood and a circular economy at once.

Positioning. Community-owned climate action, where those who live with the consequences lead the response.

Focus. Water conservation, watershed development, renewable energy and community climate adaptation.

How CNRI works.

  • Local: member NGOs mobilise villages around water security, watersheds and local renewables.
  • National: aligning with national water, climate and clean-energy missions.
  • Global: engaging the climate conversation, with WCOOPEF benchmarking against the COP process.

CSRNAM & Panch Pran. Builds resilient communities and advances sustainable development (CSRNAM pillars 3–4); the Bihar Dairy–CBG cooperative bio-energy model turns climate action into livelihood and circular economy — self-reliance and unity in practice (Prans 2 and 4).

Government hand in hand. CNRI’s members supply the community mobilisation that national climate and water schemes need to succeed.

Sankalp. A climate-resilient countryside powering a green, developed Bharat.
