CNRI’s model of development is participatory and decentralised, delivered through Panchayati Raj Institutions and community-based organisations rather than imposed from above. Member NGOs strengthen gram sabhas, help panchayats plan and use their funds, and build the confidence of communities to hold local government accountable. Nationally, CNRI advocates genuine devolution of funds, functions and functionaries; globally it shares India’s decentralised-governance experience. The panchayat is government, and CNRI’s members are the civic muscle that makes that tier real — an expression of the citizen’s duty at the heart of the Panch Pran.

CSRNAM & Panch Pran. Strengthens civil society as a strategic partner in democratic governance and public participation (CSRNAM pillar 1); expresses the citizen’s sense of duty (Pran 5) and national unity (Pran 4).
