CNRI is an Apex Body of Non-Governmental organisations of rural India set up by Union Government in 2005 with the specific objective of strengthening, co-ordinating and facilitating their working at the grass root level for integrated development of the rural India and to emerge as a think-tank as well as a consultative body at the national and international level
Established in February, 2005,CNRI has evolved as a people’s movement with its responsibility towards civil society and deep commitment towards people, particularly those at the grassroot level, waiting to enjoy the fruits of development. This forum is engaged in efforts to unite people for the emergence of an inclusive society which will not make any discrimination amongst people based on region, language, religion, caste, creed, community, gender or other socio- economic factors.
CNRI has the primary responsibility of facilitating its member- NGOs/SHGs all over the country to serve the disadvantaged sections of society at the grassroot level. CNRI seeks to fulfill this objective by way of providing support and services to the member.CNRI consciously believes that in the task of nation building based on the principle of inclusive growth, NGO sector has also an inalienable duty and responsibility and should be placed on the same footing enjoyed by the Governmental Executive led by its political leadership armed with its powerful bureaucratic set-up.
